Ian Chandler, the founder and creator of Cave Hill Creek, and Tim’s dad, passed away peacefully last week. Ian leaves behind an incredible legacy. His vision and foresight to create Cave Hill Creek is an inspiring story of determination and hard work.
Ian will be fondly remembered as a story teller, innovator, adventurer, farmer, wine conneisuer, balloonist, gardener, dreamer and dedicated family man.
Ian’s contributions to his community were recognised with life membership of the Beaufort Apex Club and Ballooning Association of Victoria, and as a Life Governor of the Beaufort Skipton Health Service. He was also a board member of the Camping Association of Victoria (precursor to the Australian Camps Association).
We have treasured his stories, ideas and enthusiasm. He has been an influential mentor to us and many of our team. We will miss him pottering on the tractor, planting trees on the end of a shovel and stopping to make people feel welcome with a tall tale or two. We are the better for having known him and experienced the fulfilment of his dreams at Cave Hill Creek. Rest in peace.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Ian’s life at 3pm, Tuesday 7 May at Cave Hill Creek.
