DID YOU KNOW?
Cave Hill Creek has a small vineyard, The Patch, planted by Ian Chandler in the late 1990s. We produce a small vintage of pinot noir blend each year which we enjoy sharing with friends, family and guests! Due to the wet and mild Summer vintage this year was in May, much later than normal.
It’s no secret we love hiking – and this event is a pearler even if a bit terrifying. Serra Terror is a two day team endurance hike in the Grampians over the June long weekend. Ange Chandler, owner of Cave Hill Creek, lined up for the 5th time with her team, Beeripmo Wanderers.
Each year the walk takes a different route through the Grampians. This year’s trail stretched over 65km, with 2800m of elevation along the new Grampians Peaks Trail from Dunkeld, north to Grampian’s Estate at Mafeking. We were impressed with the upgrades that have taken place along the Grampians Peaks Trail, and will be heading back to visit at a more leisurely pace in future! Day 1 was shrouded in cloud andwe missed the views from the top of Mt Abrupt. The sun came out for day 2, showing off some pretty epic vistas as we climbed the Mt William range. 18+ hours of hiking, and some weary legs later, and its time to plan the next adventure!
Tim Chandler, owner of Cave Hill Creek, took on the Pies to Pacific MND Ride on 3 June. He rode the 155km from Yatala to Byron Bay with his brother Peter in memory of Pete’s father in law. A huge thank you to their sponsors – Tim and Pete raised >$3,000 with the event raising >$100,000 to help families impacted by MND.
