It’s been a big couple of months! We are excited to announce we have reopened following the Bayindeen bushfire on 22 February.
As many of you will know, we evacuated safely and spent an anxious 24 hours unsure of the damage to our beautiful property during the fires. The fire burnt more than 21,000 hectares and had over 1,000 firefighters from CFA, Forest Fire Management and Fire Rescue Victoria on the ground. Ultimately we were very lucky.
The Lake View Lodge and Glamping Village, Canoe shed, Bike shed and pump track, Crate Stack and Possum Glider activities survived despite significant damage to the landscape on all four sides. This was a testament to good fire suppression systems and our awesome local fire teams.
Unfortunately the Den, maintenance and storage sheds, low ropes and giant’s ladder, bouldering wall, an archery range, chook shed and vineyard were burned. Sadly all of the Mt Cole State Forest and Mt Buangor State Park was also burnt. The Beeripmo Walk is closed indefinitely, the Mt Cole State Forest until 30 April. The impact on our local Raglan community has also been significant.
We have been closed since the fire, but swung into action cleaning up and recovering. With a little rain, the grass has turned green, and trees are sprouting epicormic growth. We reopened last Friday for a wedding and school camps returned for Term 2 this week. Super exciting!
We simply can’t thank enough the friends, family, staff, firefighters, local and state authorities, guests, clients and community who have reached out with support and assistance over the past few weeks. Thank you to those schools, groups and couples that have stuck with us and continue to believe in what we do. It’s been humbling and simply overwhelming.
You can continue to follow our recovery story on our social pages (Facebook and Instagram). We are pumped to be back creating special memories for you and your families over the coming months.
We are back in July with a terrrific 5 day/ 4 night program from 8-12 July. Join us for a big sleepover of fun, friends & getting outdoors for kids aged 8-14.
